"We are very honoured to be named to the World Retail Congress' Hall of Fame. It is a fitting acknowledgment of the crucial role Li & Fung plays in managing the supply chains for major retailers and brands worldwide. We are particularly pleased that the important and critical function of product suppliers and the whole supply chain has been recognised. As a Group, we stand behind successful retailers by leveraging our world wide supplier network infrastructure to provide global sourcing solutions. Our nomination is also an indication that competition to-day is not just between retailers, but between retailers and their supply chains. We are a part of the Li & Fung global team of more than 14,000 colleagues in over 40 economies and the award should go to all of them as they each play a vital part in Li & Fung's achievements."

Joint quote from Victor and William Fung on their induction to the World Retail Hall of Fame

We are delighted to announce the names of the 2009 inductees into the World Retail Hall of Fame.

The World Retail Hall of Fame contains over one hundred individuals who it is felt have helped create modern retailing both in their home countries and in some cases, throughout the world.

Each year,  we consult senior retailers around the world for their recommendations of who should be honoured with membership of the World Retail Hall of FameThree new names are elected to join the Hall of Fame.

The 2009 Inductees who were recognised at a special dinner held in Barcelona during the World Retail Congress were:

Brad Anderson

Working closely with Schulze, Brad began to develop the warehouse, self-service format that became key to Best Buy’s growth and the development of its culture of innovation. In 1986, Anderson was promoted to executive vice president and was elected to Best Buy’s Board of Directors. In April 1991, he was promoted to president and chief operating officer. Anderson was named vice chairman in 2001. In June 2002, he assumed the position of chief executive officer. Today, Anderson leads approximately 140,000 employees throughout North America and China and has grown Best Buy to a $40 billion business by revenue. Earlier this year it was announced that he would be retiring from the business in June.
