CELEBRATE RETAIL LEGENDS AND INNOVATORS
World Retail Congress strives to recognise great leadership and strategy in the World Retail Hall of Fame and Innovation Fellowship.
Retail legends inaugurated into the World Retail Hall of Fame have included Tommy Hilfiger, Jo Malone, Sir Paul Smith, Amancio Ortega, Jack Ma and more. The inaugural Innovation Fellowship honoured Jose Neves of Farfetch and Natalie Massenet and Mark Sebba of Net-a-Porter.
Those recognised in 2018 will be announced at the beginning of 2018.
RECOGNISE FUTURE RETAIL TALENT
Since its inception, World Retail Congress has sought to recognise future talent within the industry, each year welcoming teams of students from colleges and universities across the globe. With a new challenge being set each year, the students are required to design a retail concept that is presented to a panel of expert judges. The winner is announced at the World Retail Awards ceremony on final night of the Congress.

World Retail Congress run a special, invitation-only programme for retail leaders throughout the event. SPECIAL EVENTS FOR WOMEN IN RETAIL
International Women in Retail is an invitation-only evening that brings together top female retail executives to learn, inspire, build networks and enable mentoring. In 2017 Jo Malone shared her very personal journey of entrepreneurship and leadership: “A vision is something you have in your head, but a purpose is something you have in your heart.”
The Woman of the Year Award is also awarded during the event. This very special award, selected by a panel of senior women retail executives, went to the woman who they believed embodies outstanding qualities of retail skill, resilience, strength, ambition and willingness to battle through whatever challenges and adversity they have had to face in order to be a role model to others, and of course, very successful at what they do. The inaugural recipient in 2017 was Zyda Rylands, CEO of Woolworths SA.
THE INDUSTRY’S FINEST ARE AWARDED AT RETAIL’S NIGHT OF NIGHTS
The World Retail Awards is the only global industry event that recognises and honours retail excellence. The Awards attract entries from hundreds of retailers from 50+ countries, allowing brands to display their innovation and excellence across a variety of segments of the industry. Past winners include Primark, Marks &Spencer, Lush, T.J. Maxx, John Lewis, Tesco, Starbucks and Net-a-Porter. The Awards will take place on April 19th, the closing day of the World Retail Congress.
