University of Cape Town wins Future Retail Challenge
The winner of the World Retail Congress Future Retail Challenge is the University of Cape Town in South Africa, appearing at its first World Retail Congress,
Jury Chair Bernie Brookes said yesterday at the outset of the presentations at the World Retail Congress that it had been a challenging brief and also noted that it was the first year that the University of Cape Town had competed among a record number of seven entrants.
“The teams were asked to integrate AI into a physical store, based in their local area, projecting through to 2030,” Brookes said, with teams from New York, London, Paris, Turin, Hong Kong, and Cape Town presenting their ideas.
Runners-up in Berlin were FIT, New York and the Business School from France.
