World Retail Congress honours retail industry titans to be inducted into 2023 international retail Hall of Fame

The World Retail Congress' Hall of Fame recognises the achievements of individuals who have founded and lead retail's greatest companies and brands.

The World Retail Congress' Hall of Fame recognises the achievements of individuals who have founded and lead retail's greatest companies and brands. 

Against a backdrop of some of the most extraordinary times that we have experienced in retail over the last few years, the 2023 inductees have demonstrated resilience, passionate leadership, and a future-focused drive for the industry. 

Joining a total of 48 World Retail Hall of Fame members, from its inception in 2007, this year we are delighted to honour:  

  • Mindy Grossman, Partner and Chair of Consello Business Development and Former CEO, WW International, Inc. 

  • Marc Puig, Chairman & CEO of Puig 

  • Jennifer Woo, Chairman, The Lane Crawford Joyce Group 

New inductees will join the in-person exclusive World Retail Congress Hall of Fame ceremony to accept the accolade in Barcelona, April 25-27th. 80 retail leaders will join the evening ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of this year's inductees who embody each of this year's four key themes: purposeful retail, transformational retail, resilient retail, and customer-focused retail. 

Chairman of World Retail Congress, Ian McGarrigle said of this year's inductees, “Each year, the process to select the Hall of Fame inductees is always a thrilling exploration through the careers and impact of the retail industry's highest achievers. All this year's inductees have truly innovated and shaped the retail industry, knowing that their passion, vision and leaderships of their companies and brands, could, and has, had a global impact.”

About Marc Puig 

Marc Puig Guasch is Chairman and CEO of Puig, a Spanish company founded in 1914 by his grandfather Antonio Puig i Castelló. After studying an Engineering Degree at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, he received an MBA from Harvard University. Puig then joined Antonio Puig S.A. as Director of Research and Development, and in 1996 he was appointed President of Puig in the United States, and Chairman of Carolina Herrera, a role he performed based in New York.  

In 2001, he returned to Barcelona to take up the position of President of the Fashion Division and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development. He became Chief Executive Officer of Puig in 2004, and then also named Chairman of the Puig Board of Directors in 2007 (both positions held until today).  

He has been President of the IEF (Family Business Institute) and member of several prestigious organisations, such as Circulo de Economía, the Harvard Business School European Advisor Board, and the IESE International Advisory Board. He also has been honoured with the Kellogg's Family Business Leadership Award in 2015, and in 2017 was inducted into the Fragrance Foundation of America's Hall of Fame.

It's a genuine privilege to lead Puig, a business with a strong heritage but also a very exciting future as a leading global luxury group in beauty and fashion. It was their incredible commitment which got us through the pandemic, and which is now positioning the business for further growth in new and exciting markets across the world” 


About Mindy Grossman 

Mindy Grossman is a Partner and the Chair of Consello Business Development. Prior to Consello, Mindy served as the President and CEO of WW, Intl. from 2017 to 2022, steering the company through a successful rebrand, and as a member of the board of directors through March 2022. Before WW, Mindy served as the CEO and a member of the board of directors at HSNi from 2006 to 2017, where she oversaw a $4 billion direct to consumer retail portfolio. Before HSNi, Mindy served as CEO of IAC Retail, the former parent company of HSNi. She successfully took IAC Retail public in 2008 and subsequently became CEO of HSNi until 2017. Before joining IAC, Mindy served as a Global Vice President at Nike, Inc., where she oversaw its $4 billion global apparel business and served as co-chair of Nike's Women's Leadership Council. Earlier in her career, Mindy served as President and CEO of Polo Jeans Company, Vice President of New Business Development at Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation and President of Chaps Ralph Lauren. She also held senior positions at Tommy Hilfiger. 

Mindy was appointed to the Digital Economy Board of Advisors for the Chamber of Commerce during the Obama administration, where she served as an advisor from 2014 to 2017. She also served as the Chairman of the National Retail Federation and Chairman of the NRF Foundation. 

Mindy currently serves on the Board and the Executive Committee of UNICEF USA and is a member of the Board of Directors of Fanatics, Inc., Vault Health and Hungry Root, as well as the Board of Visitors of Columbia School of Engineering. 

Upon hearing of the accolade, Mindy shared;

Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege of working for some of retail's most respected brands and partnering with the world's most creative minds. The retail industry is filled with visionaries and pioneers who have each had a significant impact on the world. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to build my career alongside such an amazing community of individuals, all of whom have been constant sources of both support and inspiration.” 

More about Jennifer Woo 

Ms Jennifer Woo is the Chairman of The Lane Crawford Joyce Group, Asia's premier fashion retail, brand management and distribution group. 

Ms Woo spearheads Group strategy and oversees the operations of iconic, luxury department store Lane Crawford; cutting edge fashion boutique Joyce; fashion footwear, bags and accessories specialist Pedder Group; fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brand management and distribution business ImagineX Group. 

The Lane Crawford Joyce Group operates more than over 600 points of sale across 40 cities in Greater China and South East Asia. The Group works with more than 1,650 international designer brands to mutually build their business in the region through specialty department stores and boutiques, free-standing branded stores, and e-commerce.    

Since 1999, Ms Woo has held various positions within the Group, working in operations, merchandising, marketing and finance. In 2003, Ms Woo was instrumental in the creation of Pedder Group - a business that now places in the top 10 global shoes and accessories retailers based on turnover. 

As President of Lane Crawford from 2003 to 2010, Ms Woo and her team implemented some of the most fundamental changes in the company's history, successfully repositioning the department store model to a specialty business with the largest selection of international designer fashion in the region. Lane Crawford has since become a benchmark for innovation in retail concepts and creative. In 2011, Lane Crawford became China's first omni-channel designer fashion retailer with the launch of its e-commerce business.  

Jennifer leads the Group with purpose and ceaseless curiosity, seeding experiments and initiatives to determine new pathways for the business. She is deeply invested in the culture of the Group and her people and enabling her people to grow through learning and opportunity. 

One of The Wall Street Journal's “Women to Watch in Asia” and the recipient of Vogue China's Fashion Retail Icon Award, Ms Woo sits on the board of the Asia Art Archive, and is a member of the Court of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
