Monica was able to build, in over 20 years of sound track records, a solid experience as executive manager in Retail Real Estate at EMEA level, also thanks to various multinational companies she worked with, such as Klepierre, Multi Corporation, Sonae Sierra, IKEA and JLL. Today, she is an independent advisor and founded YOUNICORN, a boutique retail advisory service for retailers and landlords. She supports landlords – from large specialized institutional entities, investment funds and asset management companies, to financial institutions and family offices- to increase their retail intelligence, while developing or refurbishing retail real estate destination or mixed schemes including a retail element. Opinion on value, strategic asset management, masterplan, feasibility studies, rent roll, merchandising mix and leasing are some of the main services provided. On the retailer’ side, Monica provides Tenant Representation and occupier’s services, working with a large portfolio of national and international brands with different positioning, assisting retailers for their strategic expansion of new stores and/or for the restructuring of existing POS network, as well as lease regears or improvements. She focuses on retailers’ strategic development phases and negotiations with landlords on behalf of the brands, while also collaborating with other professionals for design & planning and legal matters. With YOUNICORN, she transversally covers from luxury to mainstream high street, mixed use urban destinations, designer outlets, shopping or entertainment centers and retail parks. Always taking care of the retail component, Monica contributed to some important urban regeneration projects encompassing retail, living, student housing and offices. She’s been a long-term steering committee member of the National Council of Shopping Centers and she collaborates with several organizations and business schools as a lecturer, as well as with various retail publications, as an expert and columnist. She is driven by a sincere passion for the world of Retail.
